OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) and NIOSH (National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health has recognized the health hazards associated with exposure to respirable crystalline silica and has long standing rules and regulations and requirements related to fabricating and finishing products containing silica. Before establishing an account to purchase materials containing silica, a Fabricator must agree to the following statement:
HAZARD PROTECTION AND LIABILITY NOTICE. Corian® Quartz products may contain silica. Customer acknowledges that hazards may be involved in sawing, cutting, routing, or sanding such products. The methods employed, and the precautions taken to handle equipment, materials, products, etc. shall be determined by and rest solely with the Customer, and Customer shall provide itself or its employees with a safe and healthy workspace. Customer agrees to indemnify, hold harmless, and defend Parksite Inc., and its officers, directors employee owners from any and all claims, liabilities, costs and expenses, including but not limited to attorneys fees, that may arise from Customer’s solicitation, promotion, or use of Corian® Quartz products, or performance of the fabrication or installation of such products. Before working with Corian® Quartz, the customer agrees to review the manufacturer’s silica safety procedures, including watching a Silica Dust Hazard Safety video, and sign an agreement confirming their understanding and commitment to training their employees on proper safety methods at their facility.
